Overview of the Faculty of Transdisciplinary Engineering

A new Faculty of Transdisciplinary Engineering will be established at Ochanomizu University in April 2024. To achieve a society that embraces the SDGs and diversity, the participation of women is essential. By combining the knowledge and skills of engineering with the insights of the humanities, based on data science, we aim to develop female talent that can drive innovation towards a human-centred Society 5.0.

Purpose of Establishing the Faculty of Transdisciplinary Engineering

Technology has become indispensable to our society and culture, and plays a significant role in shaping the future. As we face various challenges, including environmental issues, the perspectives of the humanities and social sciences are becoming increasingly important. The Faculty of Transdisciplinary Engineering symbolizes the collaboration of engineering with the knowledge of the humanities and social sciences to jointly shape the future of our environment, society, and culture. Data science plays a crucial role in advancing this collaboration. The aim of the Faculty of Transdisciplinary Engineering is to enable students to cross various boundaries, involve diverse people, and create new meanings and values.
